Why Choose A Certified Kitchen Designer?

As a Certified Kitchen Designer, professionalism is important to me. The CKD designation I carry is attained only after extensive training with the National Kitchen & Bath Association; requiring seven years experience working in the field followed by a difficult exam for final certification.

First of all, most CKD’s do full turnkey projects and don’t just sell cabinets. Most of our clients want us to take the project from start to finish and
consider every aspect.

For instance, I will look at appliances that you want and give you my recommendations. I recently went on an estimate for a bathroom. When I
entered the house I noticed that the kitchen had recently been renovated. After I took my bath measurements and photographs I asked a couple of
questions about the kitchen because I noticed some issues that looked out of the ordinary. First, I noticed the kitchen was extremely noisy. It turned out the owner had installed commercial appliances, thinking about how long they may last. Unfortunately, they were very noisy, which would not matter in a restaurant, but really were much too loud for a residence. I then noticed the 72″ under cabinet refrigerator and 36″ oven right next to each other. This left almost 10 feet of un supported granite top. I hope no one ever trys to sit on the top. It would easily fracture, something the owner never thought about.

As we were talking about the beautiful ceiling detail in the room, he confided to me that his kitchen project ran over budget by almost ,000.
Unfortunately, this is not uncommon when you don’t have seemless planning from the outset of a project.

On my jobs, I want to be very close and accurate from start to finish. My job is to ask all the right questions and make sure the client knows how
much they are spending before they get involved in the project, with no surprises later.

We need to think about the full Project from start to finish. What cabinets are to be used is only part of the job. We need to think of the client’s
lifestyle, the appliances, floor covering, design, counters, and even the distances between each section of the kitchen. That’s the only way not to
end up with additional costs that you didn’t count on.

I wrote this article to help you make decisions when you’re picking a kitchen and bath professional. If you would like any further information or
